A problem, A solution, and A dream!
Like many an idea, The Hornet Hornet was a
product of these three things...
We had already been traveling in India for a few months.
The noise, the crowds, the chaos, and even the constant tug at your arm to request a selfie had long since faded into normality.
But one thing had continued to restrict the
desires of freedom we craved on our journey...
The transport!
It wasn't the looong hours bumbuling up and down
on a hard seat while patiently trying to cut the hord of
staring locals out your periferal...
Nor really was it the waiting in incomprehensible ques with no real order or logic for hours only to arrive to the confused women behind the window who tells you it was the wrong line..
And so you move on and repeat the process to eventually be told there is no train... Only to find out after persistently asking every man, women and monkey in the station, that, there is space on the train for some magic ticket that just appeared!
These things had, beknown to us, succeeded only in
planting a seed that would later grow into the obsessive,
driving force that build's dreams...
Because, we searched for what all travelers crave and desire ...
Freedom!
So onwards we went to Sri Lanka
and a string of lifes linked moments of perfection
bestowed us with our first tuktuk adventure. We had only choose to rent for the reasonably short month long
circuit of Sri Lanka's beauty and wonders,..
But the addiction to one of the world's most ridiculous and incredible modes of transport was now cursing
deep in our veins!
Trundling along for miles of tangled streets and alleys, carrying too many kilos of the world's most pointless, yet most beautifully crafted travel souvenirs in your backpack. Constant calls of "Taxi?" Or "Hotel?" ping from every directions, and as much as your mind is screaming "just this once, take the taxi just this once" you know the dent in your budget could swallow your bank account in dept if only you give in to the herion that is comfort and ease.
Well, maybe it's a little over dramatic but anyone
who's grabbed his backpack and left on a long term walkabout somewhere in the world knows what I'm talking about!
The constant hunt for cheap accommodation
and transport is enjoyable at first, but sadly as time passes,
one of travels big time consumers!
The idea of building something unique and funky, yet so practical, freeing and logical was a looong time coming.
